Open project fund

The open project fund serves to test initial partnership and mobility experiences with new partners in countries outside Europe and/or to further develop existing partnerships. The type of partnership and form of mobility are not stipulated here.

What is the objective?

The projects should make a contribution to the further development of the Swiss education system and strengthen the international networking of Swiss educational institutions from primary schools to higher education institutions.

New funding models should also be tested and the added value of exchanges, mobility and partnership activities outside Europe for Swiss participants should be gauged. The insights will be deployed in the further development of the long-term funding policy of the federal government.

What specifications are there?

The project promoters are essentially free to design their project.

The innovative nature of the projects is important: How do we develop mobility and partnerships, and how do we implement these? How do we further build upon a proven partnership? What new elements are there in education (new teaching and learning methods), and how do we combine education and economic activity? Are there new forms of training modules and other types of mobility («virtual mobility»)? How does digitalisation change mobility and partnership? How can the transition from education to professional life be improved (key word: «employability»)?

Who is the programme targeting?

All public and private Swiss institutions and organisations in the field of education.

What deadlines should be noted?

Application deadline:

Submit project outline: 31 January 2020

Submit application following qualification decision: 31 May 2020.
