Museum Partnerships: Unexplored ways of working together in Africa, Europe and beyond

Thursday, 25 October 2018, 7 – 8:30pm For the past decades, museum partnerships between Africa and Europe were based on the transfer of knowledge and practices – with more or less success. In this era of globalization, in which communities are fighting to preserve their identities, there is a need to develop innovative partnerships that go beyond the traditional ways, to fully share heritage in order to build a cohesive world for the good of all. This talk deals particularly with the issue of cultural relations between Europe and Benin and the best possible valorisation of Benin’s cultural heritage in European and Beninese museums. Lecture by Emery Patrick Effiboley, Assistant Professor, Deputy Head, Department of History and Archaeology, University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin. Place: Ethnographic Museum, Pelikanstrasse 40, 8001 Zürich Room: Lecture hall, PEA More information: www.musethno.uzh.ch/en.html Organizer: Ethnographic Museum, University of Zurich Contact: Grazia Cantele (Mail<mailto:cantele@vmz.uzh.ch>)
